As the semester comes to a close we are highlighting graduating senior, Monica Chen! Monica is a rugby machine who excels in every position she is asked to play.. from scrum half to full back, she never backs down from a challenge. Although she is graduating she has hinted that she will be stopping by every now and then next semester when she has the chance. We hope that's true, but wish her the best wherever life takes her after Michigan rugby.
Major/Minor: User Experience Design (School of Information), Music and Linguistics minor

In general, I've been involved in a wide range of athletic activities for years, from softball to cross country to soccer to hurdles to marching band to basketball, so what better sport to try than one that makes use of every skill imaginable? Rugby means mental and physical toughness, an incredibly tight-knit community, refreshing diversity, and versatility unlike any other. Rugby has helped cultivate my sense of self, confidence, and impact as an individual.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
I don't have an individual biggest inspiration, but my overlapping circles of friends from all areas and time periods of my life consistently remind me that all it takes is a fleeting moment to leave a lasting impression on someone. People have inspired me in little ways through simple, daily life.
"Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you." --Walt Whitman
In 5 years, what do you see yourself doing?
Hopefully I'll have been raising the cat I've always wanted, which would be my first cat ever. It would be all black and named Artemis! And then a second cat, definitely orange. You know, for contrast.
Favorite food or guilty pleasure?
Any kind of noodle soup! Also, hot cheetos are life.
Best class you took at Michigan?
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be?
Pistachio - sweet but actually salty.
If you do something embarrassing and hope no one saw it, I somehow always manage to be the fortunate witness. You've been warned :)
I can also form my tongue into a three-leaf clover?
