SISU December Player of the Month: Iman Mamnoon
Updated: Feb 13
Having played rugby for the last four years both here in Ann Arbor for the UMWRFC and internationally in Spain, Iman Mamnoon's experience and skill make her an amazing Forwards Captain! Iman isn't afraid to work up a sweat and leave it all on the pitch while playing as part of our starting lineup. She's always willing to lend a helping hand to her teammates, and we're incredibly grateful for everything that she's done as a leader on the team!

How long have you been playing?
I came upon rugby very accidentally when I saw the diag board that has a great lineout on it. I had always wanted to play a team sport and have a background in martial arts so the contact thing wasn't an issue.
In 5 years, what do you see yourself doing?
This is a tough question to ask seniors! Hopefully I am working in a city, living with people I love and playing rugby.
Favorite place in Ann Arbor?
Ann Arbor District Library (downtown branch)
Favorite memory at Michigan so far?
Of course it's rugby related! There are so many, but the one that comes to mind right now is cooking potatoes (not starting grease fires) at the rugby house before one of our games this year. I love being around everyone on the team and it really was so cozy and tasty.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My sister because she knows herself really well and consequently always knows where she stands on things and is steadfast in her values. She is also very honest (not in a bad way, but in a brave way).
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be?
Eggnog or mango sorbet (I am lactose intolerant)
“I compare myself to who I was yesterday and try to be better each day" Alyssa Naeher
Favorite food or guilty pleasure?
Best class you've taken at Michigan?
LACS 321: Indigenous Communities vs Globalization in South America
I have a depth of knowledge about all things food.
Brunch or linner?
What continent(s) do you most want to visit?
BBQ sauce or toum!
