Nationals Re-cap

What a weekend of weather and rugby! The wolverines arrived in Glendale, CO Thursday amid rain and power outtages - namely at our car rental service! But weather would not hold the team back as they scrimmaged against Penn State on Friday. Luckily the sun came out for us during Saturday pool play and the girls left on Sunday sunburned but feeling proud of their efforts representing Michigan rugby to take 7th in the nation!

Saturday Pool Play Re-cap

- vs. Life (0-41 - L ) The girls kicked off pool play facing last year's winners of the CRCs and 7s National Championship Life University, in the stadium. Though a tough loss, the girls quickly shook off the first day jitters and fought hard.

- vs. Central Washington (21-12 L ) Never having faced CW in the past the wolverines were unsure what to expect but they proved to be tough opponents. Tries made by Meg Melton and Monica Chen,

- vs. Texas A&M (35-0 W) After two losses the wolverines were determined to win and stay in the running for 1st place. Thanks to a solid team effort and scores by Fatou Ndaw, Alena Olsen and hat trick by Meg Melton the girls did just that and just took 8th seed to qualify for the cup quaterfinals.

Sunday Re-cap

-vs. Lindenwood (0-14 L) The girls once again started the day in the Stadium facing Lindenwood who would become the champions of the tournament. Despite the loss the wolverines held the champions to their lowest scoring game of the entire tournament!!

- vs. Army (7-31 L) Hard fought final game for the wolverines- though they had the momentum and the drive to continue deeper into the tournament the final score came out to Army's favor. Securing a 7th place finish for the wolverines in the tournament. Try by Alena Olsen.

Thanks to everyone for an amazing season! Looking forward to seeing you in the fall!
