HEAD COACH: JAMIE FRECH
Jamie has been part of the local rugby community as a player, coach, mentor, and administrator since her playing debut for UMWRFC in 1997. Her love for the sport kept her active on the field as a player until she hung up her cleats in 2016. Over the years Jamie has been honing her skills as a coach, starting with UMWRFC in 2004, player-coach for the Ann Arbor WRFC (one of the founding members), and player-coach for the Detroit Tradesmen's WRFC where she completed her formal certifications. Professionally, Jamie is the President of the global advertising agency, Shaw + Scott Inc. While she is not watching and learning more about rugby, she is and avid cross-fitter, downhill skiier, paddleboarder, and enjoys spending time with her family at their home in Ann Arbor, MI.
ASSISTANT COACH: JASON ANTHONY
Jason is an alumnus of the University of Michigan Men's Rugby Football Club, where he played from 2013 to 2017. Before joining the team at Michigan, Jason first played rugby from 2012-2013 with the Washtenaw Rugby Football Club. Jason's coaching career began in 2016, as Assistant Coach for the Detroit Catholic Central High School rugby team, where he continues to coach. Jason began coaching for both the University Women's and Men's Rugby Football Clubs in 2017.
ASSISTANT COACH: ANNA DAOUD
Anna's rugby career began at the University of Michigan from 2002-04, where she played flanker, 8, and hooker, and served as Treasurer for the club. After her time on UMWRFC, Anna helped restart the Ann Arbor Women's Rugby Football Club. From 2005-09, she played loosehead prop, tighthead prop, and hooker, and held the positions of President and Treasurer. In 2008, Anna first joined the coaching staff of UMWRFC. Anna has played around the world, including for Belmont Shore, Beantown in Boston, and for Sydenham, in Christchurch, New Zealand. Outside of coaching, Anna works as a sports performance physical therapist.
ASSISTANT COACH: CHRISTINE LISEE
Christine joined the coaching staff for UMWRFC for Fall 2018, but her involvement with the club began long before. Between Fall 2007 and Spring 2012, Christine was a utility forward as well as Public Relations Coordinator for the club. During this time, Christine also played for the Ann Arbor Women's Rugby Football Club, where she played until 2014. Christine also played for the Detroit Tradesmen between 2014 and 2016, serving as their head coach for her final year on the team. Currently, Christine plays for the Detroit Women's Rugby Football Club. Christine is an environmental engineer at General Motors. In addition to playing and coaching rugby, Christine enjoys crossfit and olympic weightlifting, as well as backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, and hiking.
ASSISTANT COACH: STACIA SIMONSEN
Stacia played for University of Michigan Women's Rugby Football Club from 2008 to 2012. During her time on the team, she rotated through the back line and served as the team's social chair. Stacia was on the 2010 - 2011 team that qualified for the Sweet Sixteen round of Nationals and helped the team earn the title of Midwest Champions that season. Stacia played for the U23 Michigan All-Stars team in 2012 and for the Michigan Midwest Team in the same year. In 2014-2015, she traveled to New Zealand and played 7s, 15s, and touch there. During the summer of 2015, Stacia played with Detroit Rugby Football Club. Stacia played for the Legacy 7s team during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Since 2015, Stacia has been coaching for UMWRFC. In 2015, Stacia was part of the coaching staff that led UMWRFC to compete at the Philadelphia Collegiate Rugby Championships.
